Meet the Cast and Crew of
”THE MELVILLE BOYS”
Written by: Norm Foster Director: Kelly Barnum
Two brothers arrive at a lakeside cabin for a weekend of fishing. Little do they know that their plans are soon to be thrown for a loop when two fun-loving sisters arrive on the scene. In this modern Canadian classic, Norm Foster offers a tender comedy full of vigour about brotherhood and the unexpected.
CALVIN TYNDALL
Lee Melville
Calvin Tyndall is thrilled to be on stage with ECHO Players in The Melville Boys. He has previously appeared in Death By Fatal Murder, Queen Milli of Galt, Cheshire Cats, and Treasure Island, and has also crewed in the shadows of the booth with a variety of technical credits. Calvin’s performing roots trace back to his years as a street performer and storyteller, which still shape the energy he brings to the stage. By day he’s busy taming the internet; by night he’s happiest chasing stories under the stage lights.
DELANEY IRVING
Lorette
Delaney Irving was born in Nanaimo, where she found her love for theatre at a young age through dance. She recently graduated from Vancouver Island University’s Theatre Diploma Program. Delaney acted in numerous plays at VIU, such as A Midsummer Night’s Dream as Puck, and Our Town as Emily Webb. Last summer she participated in the Island Summer Theatre Festival where she had the privilege of playing Alice in Alice’s Wonderland. Delaney is very excited to portray the sassy Loretta in her first production with ECHO players and hopes that everyone enjoys the show
MICHAEL JOSEPH
Owen Melville
Michael Joseph is a born and raised performer on Vancouver Island. He performed with the Portal Players in Port Alberni and was involved with many shows during his time at ADSS. He graduated with a diploma in theatre from VIU in 2024, and hopes to further his acting career in the future. This is Michael’s first production with ECHO Players, and he’s super excited for everyone to come see his rendition of Owen Melville! He is so thankful to this fantastic cast and crew, and his loved ones for their support throughout this production! Enjoy the show!
KELLY BARNUM
Director
Kelly Barnum holds a BFA and an MA in Theatre and has been directing and teaching performing arts for over twenty years. She has directed numerous productions with her high school students, including Urinetown: the Musical, Waiting for the Parade, and last year’s Into the Woods, as well as dance productions of Terezin and Going Under with her frequent collaborator, Sarah Kielly. For ECHO Players, Kelly was last seen on stage as Olympe de Gouges in The Revolutionists and directing Stephen Massicotte’s Mary’s Wedding. She is thrilled to be returning this season with Norm Foster’s The Melville Boys.
AMBER LOCHEAD
Mary
Amber most recently appeared on stage in 2023 both as Annie in The Play That Goes Wrong, and as Rudolpho in Matilda. She's happy to have had the opportunity to work with her friend Kelly again as well as a fantastic cast and crew; sinking her teeth into a calmer, more introspective character for a change, and taking a break from physical comedy (mostly...). As always, Amber is grateful for the love and support of Isaac and Paige, along with the rest of her team; allowing her to escape to stretch her muscles, enjoy the catharsis, and hopefully contribute to the joy.
JUDI & MIKE ANDREWS
Producers
Judi - hadn’t had anything to do with theatre since high school until coming to the Island. We had been to theatre at the Citadel in Edmonton but only as patrons. We first attended the Village Theatre in 2007 and thoroughly enjoyed it. Shortly after she became a box office volunteer. Since joining the ECHO Players she has become the program coordinator and a producer of many plays.
Mike - I am on old dude who loves community theatre! I have been on stage and behind the scenes and am currently serving my fourth term as President of ECHO Players. The Melville Boys is yet again another wonderful production for you to enjoy.
