PERFORMING ARTS SCHOLARSHIP

For ECHO Players members 25 years of age or younger.

This scholarship is intended to provide young performing artists with financial aid to attend 

  • a recognized workshop or festival, or performing arts classes which will advance their performing arts skills

  • a post-secondary course of studies in the performing arts 

SCHOLARSHIP FUND 
This $1000 scholarship fund may be awarded yearly. It is divided among one or more applicants at the discretion of the Scholarship Selection Committee.

CRITERIA 
Applications are open to youth under the age of 25 who have demonstrated a keen interest in the performing arts by way of active participation in ECHO Players productions as well as school and/or community performing arts activities.

BETH DeVOLDER PERFORMING ARTS SCHOLARSHIP

For Vancouver Island Youth 25 years of age or younger.

The ECHO Players Beth DeVolder Performing Arts Scholarship provides financial support to students and emerging young performing artists who wish to further their education and training in the performing arts. Applicants do not need to be members of ECHO Players to apply. 

The scholarship is intended to support youth throughout the broader community, including students involved in school programs, community organizations, independent arts training, or other local initiatives 

This scholarship is intended to provide young performing artists with financial aid to attend 

  • Individual or group classes, workshops, festivals, or training programs that will enhance their artistic development 

  • a post-secondary course of studies in the performing arts 

ABOUT BETH DeVOLDER 
Beth DeVolder's artistry, leadership, and unwavering commitment to education left a lasting mark on the arts community and on the many students, performers, and colleagues who had the privilege of knowing and working with her. A gifted musician, vocalist, composer, pianist, guitarist, lyricist, and teacher, Beth shared her passion for creativity with countless members of the community, inspiring others through both her artistry and her generosity. 

A devoted advocate for children, youth, and arts education, Beth dedicated much of her life to teaching as both an elementary school educator, composer and university professor. She believed deeply in the power of the arts to foster confidence, empathy, and a sense of belonging, and she brought that belief into every classroom, rehearsal, and performance. 

Beth was also a cherished member of ECHO Players, where she was admired for her exceptional talent, versatility, and dedication. Her memorable performances included Sister Aloysius in Doubt: A Parable and the lead role in Collected Stories, for which she received the 2018 Mainstage Best Actress Award. Beth also served as music director and composer for Longing and composed the score for The Last Frontier, the Canadian premiere for ECHO Players in 2026.
